SGAC is Organising its 19th Space Generation Congress in Dubai, UAE

The Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) is organising its 19th Space Generation Congress (SGC) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Congress will hold from the 21st to  23rd of October 2021. Thus, interested persons can apply to join the congress. Consequently, applications are open from June 1st until June 30th, 2021, at 23:59 GMT. Successful applicants will be contacted by July 15th, 2021

The SGAC will evaluate applications based on an applicant’s motivation to attend SGC, and breadth/depth of experience. Furthermore, based on the applicant’s ability to contribute to the overall event, insights, and passion for space. In addition, note that all decisions made by the selection committee are final. Furthermore, due to the volume of applications, the committee will not provide feedback on individual applications. Delegates will be able to participate both fully in-person or online this year. In addition, the committee will evaluate all applications, regardless of in-person or online participation equally. Consequently, interested persons can apply here.

SGC Moderators

This year, SGAC offers select delegates the opportunity to contribute to the SGC as Working Group Moderators alongside the SGC 2021 Organising Team. Moderators will coordinate a Working Group and facilitate team discussions about the Working Group Topic (Please see: Working Groups for more information about the planned topics for this year).

Tasks include:

  • Working with Subject Matter Experts, Working Group speakers and conference delegates as a team, emphasizing good communication and moderating discussions
  • Provide respectful feedback during the discussions
  • Answer and direct the discussions in a timely, polite, and fair manner
  • Ensure SGC Working Groups are on task and topic
  • Follow up with Working Group members to coordinate and edit the group’s contribution to the SGC final report
  • Report to the SGC Working Group Coordinators on progress and directions

SGC Moderator Workshop

To support the training of moderators, selected applicants will have a dedicated SGC Moderators Workshop to prepare for the role. The workshop aims to enhance professional development, leadership, international collaboration skills, and verbal and written communication skills. Selection for this position does not automatically imply SGAC can provide funding for attending the Congress nor guarantee a scholarship.

Estimated time commitment: 10 hours cumulative before the SGC; 3 days during the SGC and 10 hours cumulative after SGC. Period of Performance: 01 October 2021 to 01 December 2021

Requirements:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English, good grammar, writing, and communication skills
  • Dynamism and organization
  • Interest in working with international cultures and diverse backgrounds
  • Prior experience as a moderator of events or in attending an SGAC event is preferred

Space Generation Leadership Award

The Space Generation Leadership Award (SGLA) facilitates the attendance of international delegates who bring unique and insightful first-hand perspectives to the Space Generation Congress. Furthermore, it selects top international applicants to attend the 19th Space Generation Congress and the 72nd International Astronautical Congress (IAC) (25 – 29 October 2021) holding in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Previous recipients of the Space Generation Leadership Award or the Global Grant Programme are not eligible for the SGLA.

The delegate selection process for SGC is highly competitive. The SGLA will evaluate applications for delegation based on information applicants provide. Consequently, applicants can write a paragraph or a series of bullet points for each question and are subsequently welcome to add details where necessary. To apply for the SGC 2021, you must be a member of SGAC. The SGAC registration and membership is free.
