The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD), in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), invites interested individuals to its lecture on implementing the Sendai Framework for disaster risk reduction in Africa, 2:00 pm, 5 May 2023, in Nairobi.

About the Sendai Framework

The  Sendai Framework endorsed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 during the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (WCDRR) advocates for the substantial reduction of disaster risk and losses in lives, livelihoods and health and the economic, physical, social, cultural and environmental assets of persons, businesses, communities and countries.

Furthermore, the Sendai Framework complements the 2030 Agenda agreements, including the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, the Addis Ababa Action Agenda on Financing for Development, the New Urban Agenda, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Mami Mizutori, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR).
