The Kenyan Ministry of Water, Sanitation & Irrigation in conjunction with the Kenya Water Institute (KeWI), is organising the 2021 Geographic Information System (GIS) symposium. Consequently, the Ministry is inviting applications from various exhibitors, Session Conveners, and delegates. Furthermore, the Ministry expects to have students, professionals, interested individuals and various institutions as delegates.
The theme is “Supporting Water Service Provision and Water Resources Management through Utilization of GIS and Earth Observation Technologies.” Furthermore, the event will hold from June, 24th 2021 to June, 25th 2021 at the Kenya Water Institute (KEWI), Main Campus, Ole shapara Avenue South C – Nairobi.
The subthemes of the symposium include
- Innovations and Technologies in GIS & EO
- Water Utility and Infrastructure Mapping
- GIS in Governance and Resource Management
- Satellite Meteorology and Global Climate
- Capacity Development in GIS & EO
- Use of cloud facilities and big data in the EO of water
The symposium will have Mrs Sicilly Kariuki EGH CS, Ministry of Water, Sanitation & Irrigation, H.E. Dr Wilber Ottichilo Governor Vihiga County in attendance as chief guests. In addition, the keynote speakers include; Professor Japheth Onyando of Egerton University, Dr Zoltan Vekerdy University of Twente ITC, amongst others.
