The University Of Manchester Is Hiring A Research Associate in Data Processing For Radio Astronomy

The Jodrell Bank Center for Astrophysics at the University of Manchester has a vacancy for a Research Associate working on the Square Kilometer Array. The work is funded through a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship to develop Real Time Analysis (RTA) techniques for the Square Kilometre Array and the Large Hadron Collider Beauty experiment. You will be expected to work initially on transient classification and anomaly detection techniques to efficiently process SKA data products and reduce time-to-insight.

The position requires a Ph.D. or equivalent in astronomy, astrophysics or related areas. You will have experience in SKA science drivers, software development and machine learning. Experience in SKA and/or SKA precursor instrument data processing pipelines is desirable. The position will be initially for two years.
