In line with its mandate to co-ordinate and integrate national space science and technology programmes, and conduct long-term planning and implementation of space-related activities in South Africa, for the benefit of the citizens of South Africans; SANSA Space Science, a Directorate situated in Hermanus, Western Cape, that forms part of the worldwide network of magnetic observatories, monitors and models variations of the earth’s magnetic field, and carries out physics research, has the following voluntary vacancies to be filled:

3 Volunteer positions FOR THE TAKE-OVER TRIP TO ANTARCTICA.

The trip will be from approximately the beginning of December 2019 till the end of February 2020.

Individuals interested in an experience of a lifetime, with some scientific/engineering background, may apply for this opportunity.

There will be no payment made to the chosen people, but all their expenses will be paid, starting from Cape Town.

Candidates must be physically fit and mentally strong to part-take in the trip as the take-over occurs under harsh conditions, and hard physical labour has to be executed. Shortlisted applicants will have to undergo a full medical screening, including a dental examination at SANSA’s cost.

Background verification, including criminal record, credit checks, security clearances; qualification and citizenship checks, as well as competency assessment and psychometric testing, may form part of the selection process.
